Prima Ekuiti Corporate Blueprint 2018 - 2023

Prima Ekuiti’s business plan outlines a multi-asset offering which aims to support KWAP’s 2025 international Strategic Asset Allocation (SAA) targets. The offerings leverage on Prima Ekuiti’s experience in equity fund management and builds on the existing research and deal sourcing capabilities within private markets. Given the increasing fund size, the investment and operation teams within Prima Ekuiti have expanded in tandem to ensure that adequate resources are in place to support the growing assets-under-management.

On the Public Market, Prima Ekuiti focuses specifically on public equity markets in the UK and the Eurozone. Although past investments made by Prima Ekuiti has been limited to the Eurozone countries, the investment team has recently obtained approvals to extend its scope towards public equity investments in Switzerland and Scandinavian countries such as Denmark, Norway and Sweden. Nonetheless, efforts will also be apportioned towards the continued growth of equity investment capabilities, namely expansion into other developed markets and new products. Most recently, the investment team has been exploring products such as exchange traded funds (ETF) as well as derivatives despite being out of Prima Ekuiti’s current scope.

On the Private Market, Prima Ekuiti’s office is strategically designed to enhance KWAP’s private equity operations by providing an effective deal sourcing platform and fostering closer relationships with key stakeholders, including General Partners, Limited Partners, and portfolio companies. Prima Ekuiti actively looks to bridge investment opportunities between the Europe and Malaysia, facilitating collaborative strategies that align with KWAP’s investment goals. This proximity enables the team to better manage and optimize existing assets while identifying new fund and direct investment prospects, ultimately driving growth and value creation within the portfolio.

Given the strategic location, the team at Prima Ekuiti has been taking advantage to expose itself to all major asset classes through seminars and conferences to understand new investment products and strategies as well as to build the network and foundation necessary before progressing further. Aware of the firm’s dual role of to be a vehicle for KWAP to invest directly in foreign capital markets as well as to complement KWAP’s diversification strategy beyond the Malaysian market, Prima Ekuiti aspires to be the trusted partner for KWAP’s future European investments – across multi-asset classes.

Under the new iteration of re-introduction of fund management, Prima Ekuiti shall provide fund management services covering developed market for KWAP’s international equity portfolio.

The new business plan sees the Management further build upon Prima Ekuiti’s existing mandate to support deal flow and portfolio monitoring by increasing headcount. This is to further develop Prima Ekuiti’s private markets’ capabilities in line with KWAP’s increased allocation to the asset class.

The Private Equity and Real Estate Department will also increase its headcount to meet the deployment needs in reaching its target SAA as well as portfolio monitoring of existing assets in UK and Europe. Hence, Prima Ekuiti’s business plan involves adding headcount to this asset class as well.
